DTU Blue Dot EVenture

Welcome to EVenture

DTU BlueDot EVenture 2020

The aim of EVenture project is to develop and nurture student activities at DTU related to the ongoing green transformation of the energy system into a sustainable, cost-effective and reliable energy system.

Passenger and cargo transportation systems constitute a major challenge in the green transformation but also offers great new opportunities in a future renewable energy system. Electric vehicles (EV) technology and interaction with the complex energy system are critical to transform the transport sector and enable a flexible energy system where the vehicle batteries act as an attractive resource in the complete energy system. It is projected that penetration of EVs will be up to 50%. As more and more public interacts with EVs, charging infrastructure and future energy system in general on day to day basis, this also merits increase in literacy and in depth knowledge of such systems.

The focus of EVenture in 2020 is the Student Formula E competition. In this competition, which gathers >100 Technical Universities from the whole world, student teams compete with an electric racecar they have designed, constructed and tested. EVenture formula student team “Vermilion Racing” aims to compete at Silverstone FSE-UK event in July 2019 by designing and constructing the electric formula single seat racecar.

The car capable of acceleration from 0-100km/h in less than 4 sec and with a top speed of approx. 150km/h. Students are currently designing critical components like battery storage, vehicle controller, drivetrain, suspension, chasse etc. The construction of racecar occur in spring semester.

Two new courses 31789 and 31790 dedicated to EVenture are established as a framework where student can get point for working on the technical project related to eMobility. In addition, the array of special courses, BSc and MSc projects supporting student’s effort in the EVenture are continuously in offer/ in progress. The EVenture student team currently counts ~35 students who in aggregate will take in excess of 200 ECTS.
